How To Catch A Billionaire(9)
Author: Helen Cooper

“I thought he’d be all the way up on the 50 floor?” I questioned.

“Nah, he prefers the view from the 40.”

“Oh ok.” We walked out of the elevator and I straightened my skirt. I was hopeful that I could make the best impression possible. I wanted to impress Mr. Green so that I would be able to keep my job for as long as possible.

As we walked down the hall, I flushed thinking about my make-out session with Bradley. Thank God, Mr. Green had not been back then. Imagine if he would have caught me. I would have been fired on the spot. I frowned. I needed to stop thinking about Bradley. He was too old for me, and he was bad news. Lewis and I stopped outside a closed door at the end of the hallway and Lewis knocked.

“Come in,” a muffled voice called from inside the room and we walked in. The office was huge, and I had to admit it had a great view of the city. Almost as impressive as the view that Bradley had in his apartment. I shook my shoulders trying to get him off my mind. Mr. Green was sitting in a large leather chair with his back to us. He lifted a finger up, telling us to wait and he continued with his phone call. Lewis and I stood there awkwardly as Mr. Green talked on the phone and I looked around the office.

It was furnished luxuriously but there were no personal touches like photographs or books to tell me anything else about the enigmatic CEO of Zoom Corp. I was staring at a painting on a wall when he swiveled his chair around. I almost fainted when I looked up and saw who it was. “Good to see you, Lewis.” Mr. Green, who looked just like Bradley shook Lewis’s hand. And then he turned to me with a smirk. “And nice to see you again, Sarah.”

“Uh.” My face turned red and no words came out of my mouth. Lewis looked at me in confusion. “You’ve already met Mr. Green?”

“I, uh…” I continued staring at Mr. Green in shock and embarrassment.

“We met yesterday, but I have a feeling she didn’t know who I was.” Mr. Green laughed and ushered for us to sit down. I’m not sure what made me do it; maybe it was because I didn’t have enough sleep or maybe it was because I was still in shock but I started walking around the room in circles.

“Sarah?” Both Mr. Green and Lewis looked at me in concern.

“Who ezzz dis Sarah you speak of?” I put on my best French accent and opened my eyes wide. I pretended to have a mini-seizure and spoke again. “I am Madame Bon Pain. I am seeking answers from my long lost husband, Pierre Napoleon.” I bit my lip, mad that I hadn’t come up with more original names.

“What? Sarah?” Lewis looked at me like I was crazy and I suddenly realized just how stupid I must have looked but I was determined to carry out my act of being possessed.

“Where is my Napoleon? He promised to bring me banana pudding from Magnolia’s.” As I spoke, I felt my stomach rumble, I was hungry and banana pudding sure sounded good.

“Sarah?” Lewis groaned and spoke to Mr. Green. “Sir, I’m sorry. I don’t know what has come over her.”

“Leave Lewis. I’ll deal with this.” Mr. Green’s voice sounded serious but I could hear the laughter at the back of his throat.

“Yes, sir.” Lewis stood up and left the room and I stood there frozen.

“Sarah?”

“Yes?” I squeaked out in my regular voice forgetting that I was meant to be Madame Bon Pain.

“What the f**k are you doing?” He looked up at me and started laughing.

“Nothing.” I pouted. “I was possessed.”

“Possessed?” He raised an eyebrow at me again.

“Yeah, you know. Someone took over my body like in Ghost.”

“Ghost?”

“You know! The movie with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg.”

“Ok.” He frowned at me. “So you’re an executive here?”

I felt the panic rise up in me and I knew he was going to fire me. “You lied to me, Bradley!” I pointed a finger at him. “You didn’t tell me you were the CEO.”

“I didn’t want you to report me to Harry.” He grinned.

“You are Harry,” I shouted.

“I know. It’s hilarious, isn’t it?” He couldn’t stop laughing. “Thanks for that. I haven’t had such a good laugh in a long time.”

“It’s not funny.” I am mortified at the lies that came out of my mouth the day before.

“Yes. It is.” He stood up and walked towards me and then bent down and kissed me.

“What, what are you doing?”

“I’m kissing you.”

“But you’re my boss.” I pulled away from him reluctantly.

“I don’t think we have to worry about that for long.” He walked to the door and locked it and walked back to me. “You just left me this morning. No goodbye, no nothing.”

“I thought that’s how these things go?” I bit my lip worried. Don’t tell me he was going to fire me for not saying goodbye.

“What things?”

“One-night stands.”

“Is that what we had?”

“Yes.” I tried to ignore the feelings of desire building up in me. “I have to go and work now.”

He walked over to me and pulled me towards him, pushing his lips down on mine. I melted into him and reached my arms around his neck. He moaned as I kissed him back passionately and reached down and pulled my skirt up.

I pulled away from him and frowned. “Sorry, no more sex.”

“What?” His voice sounded surprised.

“I told you. What we had was a one-night stand. No more sex.”

“Are you playing some sort of game with me, Sarah?”

I frowned at him. “No. No. Of Course not.”

He studied my face and sighed. “You’re an enigma, Sarah.”

“You could say that.”

“We need to talk.” He walked back to his chair and sat down. He looked at me pointedly as I stood there in front of him. “You can sit.”

“Oh ok.” I hesitated before walking to the chair.

“Sarah, please just sit down. Tell Madame Bon Bon that she can go home.”

“Madame Bon Pain.”

“What?” He sighed.

“Nothing.” I hurried to the chair. I didn’t think I should push my luck.

“Sarah. I’m going to ask you a series of questions.”

“Ok.”

“Don’t lie.” He looked at me seriously. “If you know how to tell the truth that is.”
