Lash (The Skulls #1)(13)
Author: Sam Crescent

She dropped her head, and he couldn’t stand the thought of her thinking of him any differently.

Going to her, he dropped to his knees beside her and took her chin in his hands. He forced her to look at him. He stared into her green eyes and knew he’d do everything in his power to make her happy.

“I would never try anything with you that you wouldn’t enjoy. I’m a lot of things, Angel, but I’m not a molester or a ra**st.”

“I know that.” She pulled out of his touch and stood. He followed her into the wardrobe as she placed the next item on the rail. “I know you’re not like that.”

He stopped her from moving by blocking her path. “Look at me.”

She tilted her head back to stare at him.

“Tell me you wanted me to do those things to you.”

Lash needed for her to say the words. “Please don’t make me say it.”

“I’ve never taken a woman against her will. I don’t intend to start now. You tell me you wanted it, or I swear to God, I will send you back to the club and I’ll never touch you again.”

It would kill him to do that, but he’d make sure Tiny protected her.

“Yes.”

Her voice was so silent that he didn’t hear her clearly.

“What?”

“Yes, I liked everything you did to me. It was nice. More than nice, and I don’t think you’d make me do something I wouldn’t enjoy.”

Her cheeks were bright red, but he believed her words. For now, her word would do. She was a virgin. He planned to rectify that, but for now he was happy with what they were doing to each other.

“Finish putting your shit away. I’ll expect to see everything on you at some point. I’m going to get some chicken in the oven for dinner. When you’re done we’ll shower together.”

He dropped a kiss to her lips before leaving the bedroom. Heading down to the kitchen, he pulled the chicken from the fridge and started arranging it in a meat tray. He drizzled olive oil over and sprinkled salt and pepper before slipping it inside the oven.

While he was looking for all the salad ingredients his cell phone started to ring. He opened it without looking at the display of who was calling.

“Hello,” he said, grabbing lettuce and tomatoes out of the fridge.

“It’s Zero. Tiny’s in a meeting at the moment, and he wanted me to give you an update.”

Glancing toward the doorway, Lash made sure it was clear before continuing with the call.

“I’m free. Go on.”

He closed the fridge, leaned over the counter and listened to what Zero had to say.

“Contact just confirmed David Marston is working for the Lions. He’s gaining information to feed the rival group. Not only that, we’ve been given the heads-up on a new takeover assignment. Lions are planning on hitting us on our next ride.”

Lash listened and cursed.

“Fuck, this is not going to go well. What’s Tiny saying about it?”

“He’s pissed. Hitting us on our turf and trying to take our town away, he’s reaching out to the sheriff. He wants the town to know about what’s going on,” Zero said. “For them to be on alert in case something goes wrong.”

“I hate those f**king pigs.”

“You know what this means though, right?”

“Yeah, it means Angel’s father has just become the most wanted guy to become dead.” Lash shook his head, dropping it into his hands. “Between you and me, I was hoping this wasn’t the case.”

“We don’t always get what we want, Lash. You know that otherwise your parents would be alive, and so would Tiny’s woman. Shit happens.”

Angel cleared her throat letting him know she was there. She stood na**d but covered herself by the wall. Her head peeked around the corner, and she smiled at him. The smile went to his heart and straight down to his groin. She looked so f**king charming and sexy. He was ready to lose it again.

“I’ve got to go. Is there anything else?” he asked, not moving from his spot.

“Yeah, Tiny wants to throw off the scent of us knowing about what’s going to happen. There’s a party this Friday. A proper party, bring your girl, and be ready for some serious horny shit.”

Zero hung up.

“Is everything okay?” Angel asked.

“Come here.”

He would never talk to Angel about club business. Her father was involved, and he intended to keep her out of the loop as much as possible. She padded toward him, and when she was close enough, he pulled her against his side.

“Friday there’s going to be a party. A real party. I’m going to want you by my side. We’ve got a few days to get you ready for it.”

“You’re scaring me with the real party talk. I thought you guys had real parties.”

Lash chuckled. “Baby, they were tame shit in comparison to what usually happens at those parties.”

“I don’t know if I want to know.”

“You’re with me. You’ll stay by my side, and I’ll be the one who claims you. No one else.” He kissed the top of her head wondering when he should tell her about her father.

Chapter Six

“So I heard about the party this Friday. It’s going to be awesome,” Tate said over the phone.

Angel sat on the sofa inside Lash’s house. Tomorrow was Friday, and she was getting more nervous with every passing day. Lash wouldn’t let her stay at the club, and whenever they visited the place she stayed firmly by his side. When she went into town, she had to call in a Prospect to go with her. Lash would rather leave her at his home while he dealt with business. Her only consolation was the fact Tate knew his number. The other woman had been phoning her daily.

“I know about the party. How did you find out?” Angel asked.

“In my usual sneaky ways. I heard Dad talking to Steven about it. I’ve got that killer red dress to try out, and I intend to use it.”

Rolling her eyes, Angel glanced at the clock. Lash would be arriving in twenty minutes. He always called her to let her know when she should expect him. She cooked dinner and spent extra time cleaning his home. Angel liked to keep busy, and staying in his home when she wasn’t earning a wage didn’t sit well with her. Until her father settled his debts she was still part of down-payment to the club.

With how quickly Lash had taken her away from the club he could just as easily take her back.

She didn’t want to get accustomed to a lifestyle she may not be able to keep up with.
