Infatuation (Club Destiny #4)(108)
Author: Nicole Edwards

“Have you thought about opening the club somewhere else?” McKenna questioned. Considering she was a journalist, they had all come to expect her to keep the conversation rolling.

“We’ve thought about it,” Luke grumbled. “Not an idea I’m fond of.”

Tag didn’t think the idea was necessarily a good one either. Club Destiny had shut its doors to the private members club only, not the general public club. Considering they were still on the front page of nearly every newspaper in the city, their popularity had only increased. Everyone wanted to visit the place that was in the news, and although no one truly knew what went on behind those double doors on the second floor, they didn’t seem to mind.

“I think we should do the story we talked about,” McKenna told Luke.

Tag watched the other man as he stared back at McKenna. Ever since Luke made the decision to close the doors, he had refused to sign off on McKenna’s exclusive. As much as it hurt her that Luke wasn’t interested right now, she hadn’t pushed it any further. She seemed to understand where he was coming from, and Tag did too. If nothing else, through all of this, he learned one thing – you hold on to what’s important to you, protect it with your life, and anyone who doesn’t like it can go to Hell.

Luke didn’t answer, simply nodded his head as though he might consider it and then turned and walked away. Cole followed as did Logan, leaving only Travis and McKenna standing beside him.

Tag hadn’t yet said anything to Travis, nor did he reveal what had happened to McKenna. He had a feeling she knew, but she hadn’t mentioned anything either. He didn’t know if that was more for his benefit, or hers. When she squeezed his hip, her arm hidden around his waist beneath his suit jacket, Tag realized exactly how aware she actually was.

Apparently, the gentle squeeze was her warning for what was about to come out of her mouth because what she said next blew Tag’s mind.

“So, I take it you like to watch?” Her voice was calm and smooth, and her facial expression belied the way her hand tightened even more on Tag’s hip.

She was turned on by the idea. Holy shit.

Travis at least had the decency to look somewhat ashamed, but more than that, he looked amused. “When it’s as hot as that, I don’t mind at all.”

McKenna pulled her arm from around his waist and smiled up at him before she turned back to Travis. “Well, if you boys could get over your macho bullshit, you never know what might happen." With that, she sauntered off, leaving both Tag and Travis staring after her.

“Don’t even think about it, Walker,” Tag laughed before downing the rest of his beer.

After managing to suppress the hard on threatening to have him taking McKenna to the first available place with enough privacy, Tag decided he’d better wait a little while. Without another word, he and Travis returned to the house, and the instant Tag stepped inside, he heard the greetings that rang out. Apparently someone else had decided to join the party.

Tag still didn’t know what the party was for, but according to McKenna – and the other women – they just needed something to look forward to. Nothing fancy, nothing formal. However, when Tag agreed, he hadn’t realized they’d use his house. He didn’t really mind that either. It seemed to make McKenna happy, and as it turned out, that’s what he lived for.

“Travis, come over here, I’d like you to meet someone,” Logan called from a group of people standing close to the newcomer.

Tag couldn’t see past the big men blocking the view, but he continued over to the group right alongside Travis. As much as he hated it, he was still trying to be a good host. For McKenna’s sake of course. Granted, he’d much rather sneak her off into another room and do something much more satisfying, but that would have to wait.

At least a little while longer.

“Travis,” Logan said as the group parted, “I’d like to introduce you to the newest member of the temporarily disbanded club.” The group around them laughed, and then Logan continued, “Chance Reed meet Travis Walker. If you like our club, you’re going to want to get to know this man personally.”

Tag noticed the sudden change on Chance’s face as Travis moved closer. There was recognition, and although Tag couldn’t see Travis’ face, he noticed the man’s sudden stillness. Travis knew of the man, although they apparently hadn’t met. Travis had been present during one of their conversations recently, and despite Tag’s reluctance to have him in on all of the Club Destiny secrets, Logan and Luke didn’t have any issues considering he was their new business partner.
